New pyjamas brighten up Childrens Ward

87 pairs of brand-new pyjamas have been gifted to Tauranga Hospital’s Childrens Ward by the Welcome Bay Lions Club, just in time for winter.

The pyjamas are gifted to any children who need them, said Registered Nurse and Welcome Bay Lions Club member Karyn Sanson. “Often children will come to hospital unexpectedly, home might be too far away, they may have been in an accident, or they may just need a pick-me-up,” she explains.

“We get really big grins from both the children and parents when we give them new pyjamas, it can really change the mood.”

Welcome Bay Lions Club President Phil Stocks said that the money for the pyjamas was raised by selling raffle tickets, chopping and selling firewood and holding BBQs.

This is the third year the Welcome Bay Lions Club have gifted pyjamas to the Childrens Ward. The Warehouse Tauriko kindly provided the pyjamas at a discounted rate.
