Weekly cases of COVID-19 in the Bay of Plenty and nationally

There were 497 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Bay of Plenty during the past week.

There were 497 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Bay of Plenty during the past week - down from 753 the previous week.  

Nationally, 10,589 new cases were reported during the past week.

At midnight Sunday, 189 people were in hospital across the motu, with 4 in ICU.

Sadly, 28 deaths were recorded in the past week – including 1 from the Bay of Plenty. Others were reported from Northland (1), Auckland (6), Waikato (2), Hawke’s Bay (4), Taranaki (1), MidCentral (1), Whanganui (3), Wellington (2), Nelson Marlborough (2), Canterbury (3), and Southern (2). Their ages ranged from 50 years old to over 90.
