Weekly cases of COVID-19 in the Bay of Plenty and nationally

There were 966 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Bay of Plenty during the past week.

There were 966 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Bay of Plenty during the past week – up from 821 the previous week.

Nationally, 27,076 new cases were reported during the past week.

At midnight last night, 328 people were in hospital across the motu, with 10 in ICU.

Sadly, 58 deaths were recorded in the past week – including 2 from the Bay of Plenty.

Others were reported from Northland (3), Auckland (19), Waikato (6), Lakes (1), Tairawhiti (1), Hawke’s Bay (1), MidCentral (2), Whanganui (1), Wellington (5), Nelson Marlborough (1), Canterbury (9), South Canterbury (2) and Southern (4).

Their ages ranged from in their 20s to over 90.

The total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic is 2,212 – including 108 in the Bay of Plenty.
