Radiology services

We have radiology departments at our Tauranga and Whakatāne hospitals.

These provide 24-hour acute care to the emergency departments and wards, and community and outpatient services from Monday to Friday.

Whakatāne Hospital radiology staff also provide general x-ray services at the Ōpōtiki Community Health Centre two days a week.

Private radiology providers have been contracted to provide mammography, bone densitometry and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.

The Tauranga Hospital Radiology Department has been certified and meets IANZ accreditation standards.

The department also complies with the requirements of the New Zealand Code of Radiology Management Practice 2011 and has been assessed by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) as a registered accredited radiology service.

Department locations

The Tauranga Hospital Radiology Department is on the ground floor of the main hospital building, between the Emergency Department and the Day Stay Unit.

The Whakatāne Hospital Radiology Department provides CT and ultrasound services on the ground floor, with other services on the 1st floor.
