Community therapy

The Whakatāne-based Community Therapy team

The community-based therapy service works from Whakatāne Hospital to help people to remain in their home, functioning as independently as possible.

Among the services provided to Eastern Bay adults are assessment, rehabilitation and education for physical disabilities. There is a team approach to care, and clients are encouraged to identify their treatment goals alongside the therapist.

The service is free, and people must be referred by a medical practitioner.

The Community Therapy team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, rehabilitation assistants, administrative support and Te Pou Kōkiri.
