Sarah - Clinical Nurse Manager

Sarah - Clinical Nurse Manager

While visiting New Zealand on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, Sarah and her husband fell in love with the country and made the decision to pack up their life in the UK to call NZ home.

While they could have moved anywhere in the country, settling in the Bay of Plenty was an easy choice. Sarah was drawn to the sunny climate, central location, and beachside living. She quickly accepted an offer for a position with our teams - and after 20 years it’s safe to say she made the right decision.

That passion for new experiences and opportunities has seen Sarah thrive across several roles and departments – beginning in Theatre before moving into District Nursing Services where she worked her way into her current role as Clinical Nurse Manager. Professional growth is encouraged and supported for all staff working at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. In-house career development allows staff to regularly reflect on their career goals helping them to progress and grow in ways which align their skills, experience and passions while also considering how they can make an impact on the needs of the organisation and wider community.

Working with our teams is diverse and challenging - no two days are the same. You might find Sarah juggling rosters and workloads for district health nurses across the region or she could be ensuring resources are allocated and available for staff. At other times she is busy providing patient triage and support, while also leading her team to ensure they can efficiently carry out their work.

While the day-to-day work varies there is one common theme - each and every day is rewarding.

Sarah is incredibly passionate about her role and strives to ensure she creates an environment where her team can provide excellent care for their patients. She is supported by the manaakitanga CARE values – which create an environment and team culture that values the overall wellbeing of both staff and patients.

For Sarah, working and living in the Bay of Plenty is a dream come true. Outside of work you will find her soaking up everything the region has to offer from beach walks to catching up with friends at one of the many cafes and restaurants on offer – she really has the balance of life and work.

‘I am proud that I moved to the other side of the world with just my husband, and that we have established ourselves in an amazing lifestyle with a wonderful career’.
